My last Weekend was a blast. I was invited to support Fatlip in Biel at Duo Club. Yes, Fatlip from the legendary Pharcyde. He is a DJ now too and was on europe Tour with a stop in Switzerland before he went back to L.A. last sunday. It was super nice djing with him. He’s such a nice and funny person.
He started his set with “I gotta Feeling” from Black Eyed Peas but HEY it was a joke! It came so unexpected and we were laughing our ass off since people actually took it serious. After that he continued with a wild selection of classic Rap and Funk.
It was my first time at Duo Club and I loved it there. The Club is very nice and kinda big. Especially the DJ Booth is great, with enough space for bags and to just hangloose. We were djing and partying with Fatlip until 5 in the morning, it was great!
The next morning I woke up by noise, shouting and screaming at the hotel. It took me a while to realise that the hotel staff was banging on Fatlip’s door on the same floor to wake him up. They seriously had like 10 to 15 minutes until he finally woke up. It was so funny. Even me, 10 rooms away woke up by that noise. Since he already missed his plane the day before, the staff was instructed to make sure he catches the cab to the airport. It was a hell of a job but they made it and he catched his plane on time..
My last weekend was a blast. 2 Clubs in one Night was stressy but cool. First I was invited to play at “Too sexy for Valentines” at L&G, Zug and then at “En Vogue” at Pravda, Lucerne. Thanx to my super awesome entourage it all went down perfectly!
Get ready for my new Mixtape! I’m currently working on the newest Urbannite Mixtape for Loft Club Lausanne, one of my resident Clubs here in Switzerland. It’s the 5th Mixtape of a whole Mixtape Series for which Vince Lee, DJ Ker, DJ Wild Pitch and Kiff One contributed their Mixes so far. I was hittin the decks in Zurich and Lausanne and got some interesting requests this last weekend..
Friday I was djing at Q Zurich, my new residency on the first Friday of every month. “Shape” features one special guest every month, this time they invited Kader Loth. If you don’t know her, she’s a german plastic surgery addict and model and actually kinda nice too. I was doing my 90 minutes Set after a short Fashion Show of Monica Gilford’s newest collection and actually got paid twice to play a request. Both songs I was going to play anyway but hey I don’t mind if you pay me!
Saturday I was back in Lausanne at Loft Club for the “Ladies Takeover” party. This time I got supported by Lady S from Belgium. We took over the cluuub, oh yes we did and had an awesome night. Check out the video:

The last and final stop of my Asia Tour was Tokyo. Wow, I mean Tokyo! I still can’t believe that I was actually djing in Tokyo. It was a pretty amazing experience and a big step in my DJ career as well. I had a Gig at “Muse Club” first, a three-level high-end Club in Roppongi and then went on to “The Greenland” with a pretty extraordinary interior design..

The first Gig at “Muse” was in the Roppongi district. The area is known for its nightlife, especially foreigners like to go there and it’s full of bars and Clubs. At “Muse” was a costume party going on that night. Everyone was dressed up from head to toe. The crowd went nuts in this club…
“The Green Land” was my second stop on that night. When you enter the Club it is as if entering a jungle or a rain forest. Everything is green, there are leaves everywhere, trees and wild animals, it just looks pretty wild in there and so was the crowd on that night, wild and crazy!
After this buzy and hectic time in Japan I was in desperate need of some rest and relaxation, so what better place to go than Bali..

The second stop on my Asia Tour was Japan. I’m very proud of the fact that I was booked at three events in Osaka and Tokyo and, as my booker told me, I was the first female R&B DJ from Europe who was booked in Japan at all. How great is that? and yes I had the time of my life. Japan is great! crazy but great. Ok, you have to get used to japanese people first, they are nice but somehow different and unfortunately for me they lack english language skills. So often in the restaurant I wasn’t really sure what I was eating, they couldn’t explain it to me in english, so my first rule was: Never eat Meat! I really just didn’t want end up eating things like uterus, intestines, kidney or penises and I didn’t want to order chicken and end up eating a dog. You hear funny stories sometimes you know! Well, let’s get back to djing…
The first event was in Osaka. The night before the event I got informed about some regulations pertaining to nightlife activities in Japan, one of which prohibits dancing after 1 a.m. without special authorization. Seriously, I thought they were joking at first. A law that prohibits dancing after 1 a.m.? For me this was as if laughing after 1 a.m. was prohibited or talking or eating, just rediculous! I mean most white males can’t even dance before 1 a.m. and what is dancing anyway, does tapping a foot count? bouncing your head? Well for me as a DJ that sounded like fun! Dancing is what my job is all about. But anyway, I was looking forward to the gig the next night and was curious if I could still get people to dance after 1 a.m. “Club Life” named the event, according to the name of my Mixtape, “The Female Takeover”. And yes it definitely was a female Takeover. There were only female DJs booked that night, female MC’s and female Dancers. My slot was short after 1 a.m. when people weren’t allowed to dance anymore but it didn’t take me long to get the whole Club go crazy. It was an awesome night, with dancing and drinking til the early morning..

Before I continued my journey to Tokyo I was invited to give an interview on Blackan Radiostation in Osaka, together with DJ Ne-Nyo who was djing with me some nights before. We talked about djing, female DJ’s, cultural differences, how we started our DJ career and a lot more. It was challenging to give a radio interview in english but I enjoyed it and on top they offered me a weekly mixshow on their radiostation.
